Bee Stings and Rheumatism.
Being 'nterested ir the reports of the successful ireatment of rheumatism by bee stings, a well-known London physician- recently decided to attempt the cure of a case of rheumatic disease of the heart on similar lines. Owing, however, to the obvious difficulties and objections to actually letting bees inject the contents of their stings into th© patient, it was decided to dispense with the bees and make use of the chemical substance known as formatetes, which are, of course, derived from formic acid, the chief constituent of the bee's stinging fluid. The result has been a considerable improvement in the condition of this particular patient, and it is extremely interesting to find that th© formates have started recovery when all other methods had failed.
