Treatment of Burns.
Da- Rennfti* h»s just reported that in the -treatment of burnt- he has obtained muoii success from th© use of a powder consisting of one part of subnitrate of biemuth an<]l two part 6of kaolin. The burnt surface, after it has been thoroughly cleanted, i-s covered by a thick layer of uliis powder, over which is bandaged a layer of sterilised gauz«, the whole being finally covered by thick layers of -wadding. This dressing is changed every day so long as there is much discharge, the injured area being submerged -n a partial or a complete bath, according to the extent and the situation of the burn. This powder is a very active absorbent, and speedUy takes up fluid from the burnt i-usues, which are converted into a black and desiccated slough. In burns of a mikl degree the area", after the use of the powder, is covered by a thick crust, which serves as an excellent protection during thegrowth of th< new skin. By this treatment pain is relieved and the temperature kept down.
