SOUTHLAND OATS IN BRITAIN.

SUPPLYING STANDARD SAMPLES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) IXVERCARGILL, September 10 The Southland Chamber of Commerce this year had samples of the standards of oats (A and B grade) fixed for the season by the Grain Brokers' Association and sent Home to the chambers at London, Liverpool.. Glasgow, Bristol, and Manchester. The matter was raised at the quarterly meeting of the ohamber to-day by Teason of the London Corn Trade Association cabling for standard samples of A and B grade Garton and sparrow bill oats. It was pointed out that the local gram brokers each season agreed on A, B, and C grade standards of 'feed oats, but that they did not differentiate as regards variety, as, say, sparrowbills and Gartons. It was decided to refer the Coin Trade Association to the samples sent the London Chamber, and to write to the latter requesting that the association be allowed access to the samples. It was also decided to ask the local gram brokers to supply the chamber here with duplicates of the standard samples (in 21b tins), and that the duplicates be sealed by the chamber and forwarded to the Corn Trade Aseociation of London It is piobable that in future the giaiiibrokers will each

j ' season supply the chamber with dupliy ( cates of the standard samples agreed on, s and that the chamber will seal theee and 1 forward the"m to the more prominent > chambers and corn trade associations at Home
