ASSOCIATION.
OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Football Association, held on Monday night in Braithwaite's rooms, was presided over by Mr J. Braithwaite. It was resolved that the Rugby Union be approached asking if it would be possible to play a trial match on the Cansbrook Ground ahead of the CanterburyOtago match, as it was believed such a match would be useful and interesting. The Secretary of the Boys' Schools Match Committee detailed arrangem«nts made for the schoolboys' team' 6 visit to Wellington. — The letter" was received, and those who had charge of the arrangements were thanked for their services. It was agreed that bare expenses be allowed to "the team.— Mr F. C. Mackay attended personally and thanked ths committee for its assistance. — The Chairman congratulated Mr Mackay on the arrangement* made, and said he hoped that the boys would have a pleasant timeIt was resolved to present 20 medals to the winners of the Five-a-side tournament, the secretary to arrange the- date of the presentation, the same to be of a social character and to be held in the Trades Hall. Mr W. R. Sinclair was appointed referee of the Canterbury-Otago match. Mr Crawlev line umpire, and Messrs Hall and Macgillivray goal umpiresi FIVE-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. The Association football five-a-side tournament was carried out on Saturday, a large number of entries being received. First and Second Grade tournaments, with five and nine entries respectively, were . played at Culling Park, Mr J. Gilmour being referee ; and Third and Fourth Grade * tournaments (11 entries each) were played at Corinthian Park, Mr Freeman being referee. The Third Grade tournament was not concluded till after 6 p.m. Following are the results: — SENIOR. First Round. City v. Northern B (a weak side) opened. City spread out discreetly, and placed carefully to each other. In the first spell Wyness, from midfield, passed well out to Logic on the right, who scored. A breakaway run by Russell was shattered by M'Laren. In the second half Northern lost chances through poor shooting. City 3 points. Northern B Nil. All others, a bye. Second Round. Early in the first spell Southern, playing against Mornington, missed two likely chances through Bruton, who kicked too hard. Then Mornington attacked, but were kept out by the sound goalkeeping of Ashton. Mornington showed superiority in the second spell, and on the call of time forced a half-point against Milton. Mornington a point. Southern Nil. City and Northern A provided an interesting bout. Playing against the wind, Northern made a left attack, and Chadwick drove nicely into the 1 point partition of the goal. That was the only score of the spell. In the second half Raeburn missed an easy chance, but the ball was returned in front of an empty goal, and Russell placed 3 points. Northern attacked along the left wing and forced, a corner (i point), Raeburn, m the nick of time, deflecting a 3-point shot by Evans. The game ended almost immediately. Citiy 3 points. Northern A 1£ points. Final. City and Mornington met in the final. In the first half Logic scored two goals (6 points) for City. The second half proved j tame. Mornington forced a corner (£ point), j and the gam« ended without further score, City thus winning the tournament. City 6 points. Mornington i point. SECOND GRADE. First Round. Northern A beat City A by 3 to nil. Christian Brothers' B beat Northern B by 1 to nil. Christian Brothers' A beat City B by 3^ to nil. Alliance beat Mornington by 1 to nil. Ravensbourne, a bye. Second Round. Ravensbourne beat Northern A by 7£ to nil. Christian Brothers' A beat Christian Brothers' B by 6 to nil. Alliance, a bye. Semi-final. Ravensbourne beat Alliance by 6£ to nil. Christian Brothers', a bye. Final The final between Ravensbourne and Christian Brothers A proved exciting. Ravenbourne opened the scoring, and the teams scored alternately, each havng 6 pointe after 10 minutes' play. A further bout of two minutes each way, during which Jack Connor was bumpel heavily, ended with the teams still even. In the
next two minutes Christian Brothers scored 1 point, thus winning by 7 points to 6. THIRD GRADE. First Round. Maori Hill beat Rosiyn-Wakari by 6 to 4. Northern B beat High School A by 9 to 1. Rosiyn-Wakari B beat Northern A by 7 to 6ChKstian Brothers A won by default against High School B. Christan Brothers B won by default against Northern C. Alliance, a bye Second Round. Alliance beat Christian Brothtrs B by 3£ to nil. Northern B beat Maori Hill by 10i to nil. Christian Brothers A beat Rosiyn-Wakari B by 6 to nil. Semi-Final. Northern B beat Alliance by 7 to 6. Christian Brothers, a bye. Final. Northern B beat Christian Brothers A by 3i to nil. FOURTH GRADE First Round. Mornington B beat High School by 3£ to i. ' Mornington A beat Northern by 3£ to nil. High School Old Boys A beat Northern A by 6± to 4. Christian Brothers A won by default against Maori Hill. Ravensbourne won by default. Christian Brothers, a bye. Second Round. Mornington A bVit Mornington B by 7£ to nil. High School Old Boys A beat Christian Brothers A by 3£ points to 3. Ravensbourne beat Christian Brothers B by 15 to nil. Semi-Final. High School Old Boys A beat Mornington A by 7 to nil. Ravensbourne, a bye. Final. Ravensbourne beat High School Old Boys A by 7 to £. During the progress of the junior tournament two players, W. Johnston c, of Northern, and E. Chapman, of Roslyn, had each tihe misfortune to sustain a broken collarbone. AUCKLAND v WANGANUI. WANGANUI, September 7. The Association football match between Auckland and Wanganui was nlayed this afternoon, and was won by Auckland by 3 goals to 1.
