CAMBRIANS

September 11.—In common with other parts of the country we experienced a cold snap on Tuesday and Wednesday, snow and rain fell, which hindered to some extent farm operations, but at the time of writing beautiful spring weather prevails. Ball.—The annual Oddfellows' ball, which was held on the 3rd September in the Victory Hall, attracted a large attendance. Amongst those present were a number from Becks and St. Bathans. The music was supplied by the Morgan Family, and Mr Wheeler acted as M.C. The Grand March was led off by Mr and Mrs J. Rutherford, followed by 20 couple. The dresses worn included the following:—Mrs G. Francis, white silk; Miss Sutherland, red silk; Miss J. M'Guckin, ' cream silk; Miss S. M'Guckin, white silk; Miss Gallagher, white muslin; Miss A. M'Phee, white muslin; Miss J. Hughes, blue silk; Miss J. x Sheppard, yellow- silk; Miss B. Morgan, pale green silk; Miss Renwick, cream nun's veiling; Miss Q. M'Connochie, sea green nun's veiling; Miss N. Jones, pink muslin; Miss E. Renwick, sea green nun's veiling; Miss M. Jenkins, pale blue muslin; Miss M. Morgan, cream voile; Mrs D. Jones, cream voile; Mrs O. Hughes, black; Mrs Rutherford, black; Miss M. M'Guckin, white muslin; Miss R. Wheeler, cream lace blouse, black skirt; Miss Hughes, white muslin; Miss M. Hughes, cream blouse, green velvet skirt; Miss S. M'Gregor, cream skirt, white muslin blouse; Miss J. Jenkins, cream dress. An enjoyable gathering was brought to a close in the small hours of the morning, and all wended their way homewards after a perfect evening.
