September 10.—The weather has been somewhat unsettled for some time past, and! the mornings are still sharp with frosts. Farm work has been pretty well at a standstill for some time, and the stock are feeding on the last of the turnips. A good many milk carts are to be seen on their wayi to the factory —or, more properly speaking, the creamery, as fhere is not yet a suffi-c cient quantity of milk for making cheese. A good number of cattle, and horses change hande at the fortnightly sales. Obituary.—Since my last, two well-known residents have been removed by the hand of Death. Miss Lees was a prominent resident of our liCEfe township, and had! been through a lingering illness. She wa* for some time organist in the Presbyterian Obureh, and on the Sunday following hei death, a memorial service was held in th« church. The service was appropriate to the occasion, and suitable hymns wer« sung. On Thursday night the youngest eon. of Mr John Todd passed away after some weekp of illness. The deceased wa* a promising lad of nearly 18 year*, and much sympathy is felt in the district for> hts bereaved parents. Sickness.—There i; still a considerable* ■amount of slyness Jn our district, and thei children especially are troubled with bad ooldfe and influenza. This affects the schooß attendance, which has never really pulled UP Bmoe tlie -measles epidemic. } Ambulance.—The amKvuance claes is still doing good work umJer the able supervision of Dr Line. A few more lectures will bring the course of lectures to a close, when no doubt the members will dietioguish themselves.
