DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.
Sharebrokers have experienced another fairly brisk week, and although in the early part there were indications of a weak market, a fair number of transactions were done in investments; but again Auckland quartz was responsible for the bulk of the business. National Banks have changed hands during the week at £5 12s 9d and £5 13s. andi are still in demand at £5 12s 9d, without sellers. Bank of New Zealands were reported at £9 ss, and are now on offer at £9 6s, without a buying offer. There has not been a great deal of business in insurance j shares. £1 8s 6d is offered for Nationals, j while business in Standards Was reported at £1 2s 9d, with further sellers at £1 3s. New Zealand Shipping are wanted at £6 17s 6d. without eellere, and> Union Steams are offered pretty regularly at £1 14s 3d, without buyers. Westport Coals are stagnant, and Stocktons are not quoted. New Zealand Coal and Oil shares were quoted buyers 2s, sellers 2s Bd'. , National Mortgages were quoted yesterday ' buyers £2 16s fed, sellers £2 18s 6d. Donaghy's Rope are still quoted at £1 0s 6d, without sellers. Milburn Limes are quoted sellers £1 8s for the large, while 13s 3d is offered for the contributing issue. Mosgiel Woollens are > wanted a* £2 14s, without sellers. New Zealand Drugs are fairly stationary — sales reported at £2 7s, with a further seller at £2 7e 3d. Portland Cements have iiot been inquired for during the week. New Zealand Paper Mills were quoted buyers £1 2s 3d, sellers £1 2s 9d, without any resulting business.. In the quartz section quite & number of companies have come into prominence. Barewoods have been quoted a, good deal. Blackwater Mines have been offered at £1 10s, with buyers at £1 Bs. .Consolidated Goldfields are quoted £1 .2s 9d and £1 3s 9d, buyer and suiler respectively, , and Progress Mines 15s and 17s. The monthly clean-up from each of these mines was highly satisfactory, and a continuation j of such returns will go a long way in the direction of establishing confidence in these mines as an investment. May Queens have fluctuated considerably during the week. The tendency has been downwards. The manager -reported last Monday that there were only 10ft further to crosscut and cut the lode at the 750 ft level, and as there has been ample time to coyer the < i; .6tance 6tated some doubt must exist as to the reef benig down, or that the distance has been miscalculated. Waiotahie continue to fluctuate in a most remarkable manner, but here again tfco tendency is downwards. Old Haurakis took a strong rise as a result of a report from the mine, but the prices are again easier. Tairua Broken Hills eased back during the week, but are slightly firmer. The wash-up will not take place for another week or two. Talismans firmed up several shillings, but the rise was not sustained, and they are now quoted buyer £2 15s 9d, seller £2 16s 9d, with business reported at £2 16s 6d. Waihis are ateadv : buyers £9 Bs, eellere £9 9s— last sale £9 8s 6d. Waihi Consolidateds were responsible for business at 5w 2d, and are quoted at 5s buyers, 5s 3d seller. Waihi Extendeds eased back eomewhat alarmingly, but have again recovered a good deal, and are now quoted 6s 2d buyers, 6s 6d seller. Grand 1 Junctions receded rapidiv early in the^ week, and sales were made at £2 10s, £2 | 9s 9d, and £2 9s 6d. From that tho . price gradually recovered day by day, < there being sales at £2 10s 3d, £2 10s 6d, £2 10s 9d, £2 11s, £2 11s 3d, £2 11s 9d, closing buyers £2 11s 9d, sellers £2 12s 9d. In forwards a good deal of business took place at prices ranging from £2 12s up to £2 14s, closing £2 13s 6d— £2 14s 6d buyer and seller. In dredging a few lines have been put through, but, generally speaking, business has been slow. A fair number of Hartley and Rileys changed
hands at 15s, and are now quoted at 14s. buyer and 16s seller. Golden ,Bedfi are wanted at 6s, without sellers. Island" Blocks are quoted at Is 6d buyers, and 2s 6d sellers. Molyneux Hydraulics changed 1 hands at 3s, and a sale of Muddy Creeks was made at £3 7s. Rise and Shines have been in demand at £1 14s 3d to £1 14« 6d, and Rising Suns are quoted at about the same figure.- Sailor's . Bends show a slight improvement as the rive? falls, buyers having offered 3s 6d during 1 this week. Talisman changed hands on Monday at 56s and Electrics at 3s, these being th© only, sales recorded on 'Change. Reported sales included Royal Oaks at 2s 10id for contribs., and Waihi "Grand Junctions changed) hands at 52s 9d, 535, and 53s 3d, the lattea being also the selling quote at the afternoon call over. Waihis were inquired tot at £9 9s, but none were offered. Buyer< offered 34s for Rising Suns and also fo* Rise and Shines, but none were in th« market. Moßgiel Woollens were wanted at 545, and Milburn Limes (10s shares) at 12» od, but none were offered.
