CLUTHA AND MATAU A. AND P. SOCIETY.
The forty-second annual meeting of the above sotfiety was held in isxe County Chambers, Baklutha, on Saturday, August 28. There 'was a very good attendance of members, about 20 being present; the president (Mr H. H. Clarke) in the chair. The report and balance sheet showed that the credit balance at the beginning df the year was £14 16s 6d, and at the end there was a credit in the bank of £49 10s, with £50 in subscriptions and members' tickets still to come in. The actual income for the year amounted to £354 10s 4d. The membership list showed • total of 161 names. ' Mr John Grigor, senior vico-president, having left the district, wrote resigning his position. — The resignation was accepted with regret. The following office-bearers were elected : President, .Mr John '"Barclay; vice-prSsi-" dents, Messrs . WHKanV M'Gillivray "and George Patriot; secretary, Mr Thomas M'Donald (ro-e)eoted) ; treasurer, Mr G. H". Waymouth (re-«lected) ; members of committee (in place of those retiring by rota-tion)—Messrs-A; Houliston, H. H. Clarke, - Simon Wright, John Wilsotfo R. Houfiston, James Thomson, Jind ThomaSjGilmour. The following were eWted a w«&king. committee :— Messrs John Begg, jutC, fl. Clarke,' W. Marshall. T>. Sheddan, A'."iHouliston, D. Murray, and W. Murray. Mr Charles Shand, of HJllend, was unanimously elected an honorary life member of the sooiety in recognition of his long and faithful services, and the hope was. expressed that he would soon be restored to health and strength, and be able to leave Dunedin Hospital and be amongst . them .once more.
