THE LANTERN AS AN EDUCATIONAL AID .
Why those controlling our primary education-, system -do not recognise the great value of the optks| lantern a&" an educational aid I do not understand. Dr Marshall, professor ©fr.geology at the Otago University ; Professor Park; director of tbe School of Mines; Dr Benham, F.R.S., professor of biology ; Mr G-. *M. Thomson, F.L.S., and M.P., all use. it in lectnrinp to adults. . I «c» .that the Technical School is to get a lantern and 1 I hear thai the Medical School and the Training College contemplate .its use. During the past month or two. also, the Navy League has been doing good"" work with iks- lantern and slides; and Dr Truby; King makes splendid use of this means of teaching-. Why, then, cannot the Education Department, or the Education "Boards, or School Committees' Associations, ""acguire sets of geographical, historical, scientific, snd other slides for regular use.
