Motto " Excelsior."- • The above club held the usual weekly meeting on Wednesday evening, Sept-ember 1. Octava presided; and there was another good attendance of members. A letter irom Shasta was road regretting' her inability to attend, which was due to a severe attack of neuralgia. Final arrangements were made in connection with the interclub debate with the - First Church Debating Club, to-be held on Wednesday evening, 1 15th September. Lavengro, Shasta, Octava., and Luceda were chosen, to represent the club in this contest. Club" members are ppeeiallj requested to attend this deb-ate, to applaud 'if our representatives win, and console if they lose. In any case a splendid debase is assured. The subject is: "Should Capital '"Punishment Be Abolished ? " jOur club take the affirmative.
