WELLINGTON, September 4.

! A wedding of much, interest that took ; place stt St. Hilda's Church, Island Bay, on Tuesday last was that of Miss Ethel Marguerite Lingard, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W Lingard, to the Rev. W. Fancourt, ! son of the Yen. Archdeacon Fancourt. The chnrch was very prettily decorated with arum lilies and palms, and 1 large wedding bell was suspended. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a Princess robs of ivory j,adllette silk, with an Empire sash caught with a handsome medallion of pearls (an heirloom), and descending in long ends at the back. The skirt was draped with a beautiful scarf of Limerick lace, and a Brussels net veil was worn. A small posybouquet was carried. Two little pages who followed the bride, the Masters Ronald and Harold Alwyn, were attired in white satin suits with collars and cuffs of point lace. 1 There were also three bridesmaids in attendance — the Misses May and Ailesn Lingard, 1 and Miss Muriel Harrison, niece of the bridegroom. The chief bridesmaid, Miss May Jjmgard, wore a pretty Directoire frcck of pale blue Liberty silk with bretelles and panels of hand-made Indian lace, with finishings of gold buttons and gold inser- , tion. The other two frocks were of champagne and pale pink floral chine, made with prettily di-aped corsage. Veils were worn in place of hats, and fell from a coronet of gold tissue. Bouquets of daffodils were carried. Mr Martin acted .as best man, and Mr Fancourt Harrison as groomsman. Mrs Lingard's very handsome gown was of black ' duchess satin with a tucked white &atm vest. A soarf of Limerick lace draped the shoulders, and her toque, of purule straw, i was massed with lilac. A bouquet of anemones was carried. Mrs Harrison (sister of ! the bridegroom) wore a smart tailor-made of grey cloth, and large black hat; M'isa , Que-enie Fancourt, an Empire gown of blue taffetas and becoming hat to tone- A reception was afterwards held at " Viking Holm," among the guests present being the Bishop and Mars Wallis, the Rev. T. H. and Mrs Sprott, the Rev. and Mrs Jones, the Rev and Mis Sheriff, and the Revs. Walker, Compton, Hansell, and Sykes.
