OUR TRYSTING TREE.
Ah! times have sadly changed, yxd. Ifit& hearts heccme estranged That in unison once beat, -when, happy, we Together, in the shade by tie leafy branches made, Breathed our love beneath our lonesome trysting tree. The light I moft did prize shone so brightly in her eyes: 3Vas the love-light that could only shine for me. Ah! thus I fondly dreamed, and its rays upon jne beamed As we pledged our love beneath outf trysting tree. So loving was her smile — all so free from fraud and guile; — Oh, I never thought that she could faithless be! The musrc of her voice made my throbbing heart rejoice, Breathing constancy beneath our tryeting tree. But now those d«ys are gone; I'm deserlei and alone; In this life I never more can happy bet; And listless here I lie, while the Wr Bedims- dame eye, Benearth this once-loved haunt— the tryati ing tree. •Pateaj August, 1909. — M.
