GORE, September 7.
There was a large attendance at to-day's ,'jrarket, when the largest entry for some considerable time was offered, fully 4500 sheep of all classes being submitted. The sale was very dragging throughout, and everything, with the exception of fatehvep, showed a decided drop. For fat wethers £he demand .was keen, and all offered sold at an advance of fully Is per head 3n last sale rates. The entry was made up principally with good ewes, but verj few of the lots found buyers. Fat wethers made from 15s to 15s ; fat ewes, 8s 6d to 10s ; store wethers, 9s to Us 6d ; hogtgete. mixed sexes, brought from Bs lOd to 10s 3d ; ewe hoggets ' going up to 12s 6d ; two-tooth food crossbred ewes went up to 15s 6d, ut not many were sold, while four, six, and ■eight-tooth ewes were almost unsaleable. One line of specially good six and eighttooth ewes changed hands at 15s. Fullmouthed crosbreds sold et from 5s to 9s. There was a fairly large entry of cattle i>f about 120 head, for which the demand ■was not brisk. Fat bullocks sold at from £b to £9 ; two-year-old steers up to £415s; one and a-half yea-r old srteere bringing up to '£3. A targe number of oow6 and heifers were offered, and a few cold at from £3 to £8. COUNTRY STOCK SALES. The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Ltd.) reports having - held its usual fortnightly eale at the Corporation Yards, BalclutJia, on Friday last, when there was a rather small yairding of cheep and a. very large yarding of cattle. The sale was a draggingone tJirouighout, and a number of lots were paesed out unsold. Their sales comprised the following : —Ten steers at £5 12s 6d; 9 speyed cows, £3; 4 steers, £3; 2 fat cows, £5 14s; 2 do, £4 17e 6d; 2 'bullocks, £7 10s; 10 yearlings, £2 12s 6d ; 1 fat coav, £5: 35 yearlings, £2 7s; 25 -steers, £5 Is; 30 yearlings, £2 12s 6d ; 1 steer, £3; 2 yearlings, £2 IDs; 1 bull, £5 ss; 4 dairy cows, £6; 1 do, £5 2s 6d; 1 do, £3 17s 6d; 1 do, £2 12s 6d. The National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand (Ltd.) reports having he-Id its first spring hogget 6ale at Clinton on Thursday last. There- was a £arrly large yarding of all descriptions. There was a good attemdance of the public, And competition was moderately good up to a point, which was 20 to 30 per cent. under last spring's ruling rates. Vendors in most oases were prepared for the lower prices, and the bulk of the yarding was disposed of, only a small percentage being | turned out unsold. Williamson (Clinton), 134 hogpets at 10s 7d, 339 hill hoggets at 9s; Mr E. Eaye6 (Waipahi), 162 wether hoggets at 7S7 S 9d. 37 do at 8s 3d; Mr A. D. MaJiideson (Clinton), 88 cull hoggets at 6s lOd ; Mr H. Buttars (OlydevaJe), 86 wether hoggets at 9s 6d ; Mr James Eain (Waipahi), 40- wether hosrgets at 9s 6d : Mr W. Nelson " (Clinton). 53 halfbred wethers at 11« lOd, 46 oull hoggets at 76 lOd ; Mr G. Caxruthers (Taumata), 232 hoggets at 9s sd; Mr J. It.
