FLAG SWAMP SHOOTING MATCHES.
The Flag Swamp Defenoe Rifie Club held its annual social and presentation of prizes in the Goodwood Hall on the Ist instant, when Captain Cameron presided, and a large number of people were present. The following contributed songs during the evening: — Mr D. M'Gregor, Riflemen A. M'Faren and R. Peattie, and Mr Glover; Miss Sloan played a piano solo. Mr E. H. Clark, M.P., presented the prizes, and in the course of his remarks gave the young men some eound advice on Volunteering and discipline. The following are tho prize-winners : — • Six antl seven hundred yards— Rifleman O. Dempsey 1 (and al*o first in the aggregate), Rifleman A. M'Faren 2, Rifleman John Argue 3. Three and five hundred yards— Rifleman .7. Hepburn 1, Rifleman Jos. Argue 2, Captain Cameron 3. Two and five hundred yards— Rifleman D. M'Donald 1. Rifleman C. . M'Laren 2, Rifleman J. Maxwell 3. Other pnzetakors: Riflemen A. Cameron, sen., J Gilmore, Maxwell, sen., W. M'Gregor Ladies Match (with miniature rifle)— Hiss Dempsey 1, Mies J. M'Gregor 2, Mrs Cameron 3, Miss M'Laren 4. Mr Clark, in making the presentations. referred to the two veteran members of the club, aged 74- and 76 respective)? (Messrs Gilmore and Cameron), who both Hid some remarkable shooting, beating many of the younper competitors. Surroer was'orovided on nicely decorated tables by the following ladies: — Mra Cameron, Mi&cs Dempsey, Munioe, M'Laren (2), and Hepburn. Mumc was suppliM by Messrs Pemperton and C. M'Laren.
