New Zealand Insurance shares were on offer at £3 18s 6d, and Standards at £1 3s 3d (ex div.). ■ Union Steams are not in immediate favour, so far as can be judged by market quotations—Sellers £1 14s 3d, without inquiry. The same may be said of Westport Coals, a sale of the latter being reported during the week at £6 9s 6d. with more offering at the same price without-buying offers. D.I.C. ordinarys are wanted up to i 5s 6d, and preferences at £1 Is 6d, with ! business at £1 Is 9d. Dona^hys are , wanted at £1 0s 6d, without sellers. A 1 sale of Milburn Limes was reported at £1 7s 9d, and the following day at £1 7s, [ with business under the hammer at £1 7s; i closing buyers £1 7s. sellers asking 6d ' more. Driving south on the No. 13 level has been resumed, and as good values were showing there previous to the level being flooded the rise in price is probably due to information of further development. The returns should also be known early next week. Tairim Broken Hills were in good demand this week up to 2s 63d (sellers at 2s 8d), but sales were made later , at 3s 6d and 3a sd; closing buyers 3s, j sellers 3s sd. Waihi Extendeds are weak. J but the exact cause is not clear. Waihi Grand Junctions continue to fluctuate, but the market is not strong.
