DUNEDIN D.L.F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
,, Motto: ".Unipn is Strength." The usual weekly meeting of the above club was held on August 24. Owing to so few members baing present with us the previous Tuesday night, no club was held. On that evening, Roy, on« of lie Old Writers, paid ar visit to tihe club, and was disappointed at no meeting being held. As there was no programme for Tuesday evening, it was held 'as a variety evening. A letter from a friend very much interested in D.L.F. affairs was received .from England. Texas Jack briefly on the benefits to be derived from belonging to a trades union. He also repd a veiy amusing chapter from "Many Inventions, by Rudyard Kipling." Indian Chief sugjasted the "Question Box," and a few quei-tions were answered. The replies caused much discussion, interesting and amusing. Among the questions were : " Will pictures representing plays take the place of plays in the future? ' "Are n*.arriag«s wrong?" "Who should h* head of ths house, husband or ■wife?" "Should billiard saloons be abolished?" The meeting then closed. ARETA, Secretary. '
