CROMWELL BAND CONCERT.

The Cromwell Band concert took place on Wednesday, Aug. 25, and was much enjoycu by an appreciative audience that filled the Athenasum Hall. The overture " Maritana "' was splendidly rendered by the orchestra, und-ex the able conductorship of Mr John Gordon, bandmaster. Messrs E. A. Jolly and A. Tidey, as corner men, and Mr D. C. Jolly, as interlocutor, excelled themselves as nigger minstrels. The song " How Cromwell won the flag" fairly brought down the house. The opening chorus medley by the company was well rendered, as were songs given by Messrs A. Stephens, E. A. Jolly, D. O. Jo%. and W. Jeffrey, and by the following ladies: Mr 6J. Betts, Mrs J. Ridhaids, and Mise White, the latter young lady, who is a fresh acquisition, having a remarkably sweet voice. Mrs Barron, as accompanist, ac usuaJ displayed a brilliant musical brainin*. After the interval an amusing musical comedy was performed. The dramatis pefsonae were well represented by Me^rs R. Stevens, D. Oahill, and O'Driecoll. The part of Julia (the wife) Was filled to perfection by Mies Cahill, and Mies K. Hotop, as Susan, made a cha/rming maid-of-all-work. All were letter (perfect, and acted their parts as to the manner born. The band's funds will be increased by £20 as t>he result of the entertainment.
