WELLINGTON August 19. I 'I"he following are vital statistics for . July:- • j
The total births in the above boroughs amounted to 640, against 592 in June— an increase of 48. The deaths in July were 255— *n increase of 33 on the number m June. Of the total deaths, males contributed 130, and females 125. Fifty-three of the dearths were of children under five years of age, being 20.78 per cent, of the whole number. Of these, 46 were under one year of age. There were 74 deaths of persons of 65 years and upwards. Nine men- (65, 70, 70, 70 73 74 77, 83, 83) and eight women (66 68, 70, 71, 77, 80, 80, 81) died at Auckland ; 10 men (65. 66, €6, 70, 70.. 72, 75, 79, 83, 88) and eight women (75, 72, 73, 74, 74 77 79, 84) at Wellington ; nine men. (65, 68, 69, 70, 70, 75, 76, 76, 78) and 10 women (65, 70, 70, 72, 72 75 82, 83, 84) at Christchurch : and 13 men (77, 70, 70, 71 74 74, 76, 78, 83, 83, 83, 87, 89) end selen 'women (70, 73,- 75, 77 77 78 79) at Dunedin. == I
