GORE v CEINTOW. The Clinton Draughts dub sent a. tea^i of 13 players to Gore last week under th« captaincy of Mr W. Sheddan to try conclusions with the Gore playerE, skipped by Mr W. M'Kinna. The match, -which w».~ played in the Gore Draughts Club's rooms, Holland/ s Buildings, created a great amount of interest. A short! social was held before the visitors departed?' by the 7 o'clock train. The president oj the Gore -Club (Mr G. Penny) pre.sided, and? called for three cheers foi the- Clintonl' - players, and this was responded to vigo'M onslyby the Gore players. At the invitation of ihe chairman, Mr P.C. Gray addressed the meeting, and in doing so he said he was pleased to see so mans players, present. It was an evidence "that ■- Ihey had the g»me at heart.-- The Clinton^ players were to be congratulated on turning^ 'out in such ■bad we*ther. Personally h» would like to have a return mutch witfci them this season. Although the Gore Club' had numerous engagements to fulfil ha thought it possible to have the match. Ha would look forward to it with pleasure. Mr G. M'Kay expressed himself pleased with the afternoon's play. It had giver*' him pleasure to have been one of thrf players. The tournament now being held it* Gore was oausing no end of interest, and' embraced a large number of players. A ; gfettt deal of interest in the game of draught* w>a being manifested in the surrounding districts this year, and he hoped that interest would continue. — (Applause.)
