THE MARSUPIAL MOLE. Of all the marsupials surely this one is the most extraordinary. Compared with this subterranean dwelling cousin of theirs the kangaroos and wallabys are quite commonplace animals. The " mole " is tot-ally sightless, the eyes being mere vestiges. It lives in the earth in or near anthills, feeding on these insects, also their eggs, larvse, etc.
