GLENAVY.

August 21. — The weather here is now beautifully fine, after the slight local snowfall last Wednesday morning, which happily was of very brief duration. The mountains present a very beautiful picture indeed, m their mantles of virgin white; and the s>unris3 tints upon the snow are magnificent in their beauty. School. — Gleravy School ia at present being thoroughly renovated, t>he Educacion ■Board's painters having come down last Monday. The inside painting is already nearly finished, and it is -well done and looks well.

School Concert. — The school concert will be held here on Tuesday night next, and a very full pro<franMne of* items by the scholais will be presented. Miss Alexander, the mistress, has been coaching the pupils for some considerable time, and as they are now pretty -well drilled, they should acquit themselves creditably.

Musical amd Dramatic Society. — This newly-foiamed society will stage on the evening of the schooT^concen; a musical comedy entitled "A Sailor's Sweetheart." The piece bridles with' tune/ul aea-cpngs, etc., fche opening chorus' being- "PC Life on theOcean Wave." The comedy depicts the distress of Alice, the heroine (Miss White), who. with numerous friends* are assembled at her home in order to welcome home her sweetheart, "Jack Reefer" (Mr J. M. Peebles), who is expected home to-day from a long cfiusa in the Pacific. In the midst of the jollity, a messenger arrives with the evil tidings that "o'ack" was lost ovex--board off tho coast of Spain. The denoument is happily reached when six moftiths later the supposeu ' uead "Jack Reefer" steps in unexpectedly. All ends happily. The company is a very strong one, and with plenty of practice should" be able to study some more ambitious piece.
