ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION
LONDON, August 20. Mr Asquith has announced the .intention of the Government to recommend a gr,ant. of £20,000- towards the" cost of th# Shackleton expedition. The x aneuncement was received - with cheers. X Lieutenant Shackleton, when ' interviewed, said that a further appeal for assistance would be unnecessary. Everything was right now He appreciated greatly the generosity of the Government, as representing tlte nation, and he believed that the action -would be popular. August 21.
