TOMMY BURNS INJURED.
SOUTHERN TOUR POSTPONED.
PALMERSTON ST., August 11.
Burns gave an entertainment here tonight, when he subsequently declared that he felt better than ever before. He skipped and shadow sparred better than in. Wellington, and boxed a real lively clip with both his sparring partners. In boxing with o'Donnell tbe former slipped and fell on Burns, reopening badly an old ankle sprain, which had hurt him with Joßheton. The result is that the doctor declares it will probably be a fortnight or longer before Burns can do anything, and he proposes to go to Rotorua to-morrow for treatment, as it would be impossible for him to take up his southern dates at piesent.
August 12.
" Tommy " Burns and party went to Botorua by the express to-day. The doctor informed Burns to-day that he must rest his leg for some 10 days, and he would be better if he did so for a couple of months, so that it may mean the complete abandonment of his New Zealand tour. Burns says his leg feels just as' it did when he had it bad in the Johnson match. He had intended visiting Rotorua in the summer with Mrs Burns, having heard s>o much of it in Australia, and this visit anticipates that.
