MAORI TEAM IN QUEENSLAND.

SYDNEY, August 11. The Maori team defeated Queensland today by 36 points to 25. The visitors found Queensland more than a match for them in the first half, which ended: Queensland, 17 points; Maoris, 12. Asher, -who played brilliantly, had four unconverted tries to his credit. In the second half the play was tact and furious, Kuhtai, Haira, and Ratete obtained tries in quick succession, Asher converting the last two. Tuike added a fourth try, and Ratete another, Taomui adding the extra points. Just before no time sounded Asher crossed the line again, but the kick at goal failed.

At the close of the game several thousand spectators rushed the ground, and made a hostile demonstration against the visitors.
