MELBOURNE, August 15. The weat Uer was dull for the Steeplecha^ meeting to-day. The following are the results of the day's events: —
ARKARINGA HURDLE, of 200sovs. Two miles and 64 yards. — Portlight 1, Louise 2, Lord Desmond 3- Won by six lensrths. Time. 3mim 561 sec. CHATSWORTH CORINTHIAN, of lSOsrvß. One mile and three furlongs. — Blind Harry 1, Yarrabar 2, Sinderby 3. Wen by four lengths Time 2min 31eec. AUSTRALIAN STEEPLECHASE, Of 1500sovs; I2oosovs to go to the first horse, 200sovs to the second, and lOOsovs to the third. About; four miles. Confederate, 10.9 (Rayan) 1 Bribery, 13.7 (Burn) 2 Grafnax, 10.13 (Coleman) 3 Eleven .horses started. Confederate, Snob, and Grafnax led over the first treble, where Nightlight fell. In the straight, Grafnax and The Sun took command, and established a lead of 10 lengths along the back from Confederate and Cuach, the others well together. Entering the straight for the second time. Grafnax and The Sun still led from Confederate, Snob, Dalny, Kororiot, Cuach, and Bribery. There was little change to the back, where The Sun fell, leaving Grafnax with a long lead from Confederate and Bribery. The sod wall proved fatal to Kororiot. Over the trebl.e for the thuxl time Grafnax showed the -way to Confederate, Bribery, DaJny, and Snob. Leaving the straight, Confederate took command, Dalny and Bribery being 1 has nearest attendants. Dalny fell at the next fence. Bribery joined the leader at the seven furlong post, with. Grafnax handy, and the others beaten off. Confederate and Bribery cleared the last obstacle together, and the
former, drawing away, won by eigh( lengths. Time, Bman 33sec. MALAKOFF STAKES, of Isosovs. One mile.— Dhobi 1, Kerlie 2, Woorooma 3. Won by a neck. Time, lmin 45£»ec. KNOWSLEY STEEPLECHASE, of 200so\s. About two miles.— Boomerang 1> Kuala Lumpur 2, Envoy 3. Won by eight lengths. Time, 3min 56sec. ST. AUBIN WELTER, of Isosovs. Seven furlongs.— Orea 1, Siege Moi 2, Clemency 3. Won by a neck. Time, lmin 34£seo
