A purebred Arab Jiorae le shortly to be added to the list of sires in the Auckland district. Th-a purchaser is Mr J. D. Rainc, of Porirua, and the horse, which wae bought for him by Mi J. H. Mackenzie, whilst in Melbourne recently, was landed in Australia from India. The Arab, for wliidh a. ihiisph figure is said tt have been paid, has the record of winning 1 50 races, and as Mr Raine has a number of mares on his estate, the imported sire, dv© to a.rrive in AuoMand early next month, should be given a good chance to make a name for himself.
Master Soult, who •jtands sixth on the list of steke-earneirs for the past season in the Dominion, is going on nicely in his work at training quarters at Ellerslie, and looks well.
The only Auckland horses now left in the C.J.C. Derby and Oaks are Elysian and Tetrazzini respectively.
The Castor " gelding Cast Adrift will go into John Rae's stable for preparation for future engagements.
