OTAGO LAND BOARD
The meeting of the board was continued on the 11th inst., the members present being Mr E. H. Wilmot (Commissioner of Crown Lands), Messrs J. Tough, G. Livingstone, and D. Barron. Letters were received from John R. Oliver and R. Poison with reference to the licenses over the islands fronting sections
5, 6, and 7, block 111, Tarras district; also a letter from C. E. Murphy (executor of the late Charles O'Donnell) in regard to the same matter. — Portion of island opposite section bought by R. Poison to be licensed to him. Fencing line to b3 arranged by Ranger Leonard. Surrender of C. E. Murphy's interest in the license
accepted. R. Cockburn, on behalf of John Bennetts, applied for a yearly license over small area between eeetion 1, block I, Benger district, and the Molyneux River. — Ranger to report. Thirteen, settlers on the Kauroo Hill Estate wrote asking that a stock bridge be erected near the homestead. — Referred to Waitaki County Council, -with a suggestion that the money allocated for French's road be expended on a bridge.
Four settlers on the Kauroo Hill Estate wrote drawing the attention of -the Land Board to' the state of the road leading from the Kakanui River to sections 2a, 3a, 4a, and 5a of the settlement. — Referred to Wai taki- County Council. J. H. Salisbury wrote asking that lie be given the first chance of allotment 47, Windle Settlement, in the event of ths present occupier 'giving up possession.— Applicant to have first chance.
Lindley Murray, lessee of section 10, Tokarahi Settlement, wrote stating that ■the portion of the Awamoko Creek passing through the land held by Thomas Duffy was becoming closed up with shingle, and asking that the channel be cleaned. — Referred to Mr Livingstone and the canger for report.
The Inspector in Charge of the Stock Department forwarded an application from W. H. Cotterell for a grazing license over the Quarry Reserve, Town of Bastings. — Yearly license granted; rent 5s per annum. Transfer of pastoral run 1174 (Mary Main to Alfred Thomas Stevenson), sections 47 and 48, block I, Crookston district. — Approved.
F. Benfell wrote stating that he and tKe others holding yearly license No. 1690, area at Kelso, do not intend renewing the license. — David Risk renewed his application for a license over the area referred to-— Yearly license, granted to David Risk at rental of 5s per annum. Three settlers at Ranfurly applied to have section 19. Block VII, 38, 39, block V, and section 6, block IX, Town of Ranfurly, offered for sale.— To be offered at auction at £5 per section. Donald M'lntosh wrote objecting to the application by G. M. Marshall to purchase 16 acres of section 1. block X, Leaning Rock district, and askinsr that if the section is now to be disposed of it be opened for application in ths usual way- — Held over until receipt of the warden's report on the application. W.. Going applied for a lioense to occupy section 22, block XII, Tautuku district, for grazing purposes. — Temporary license granted at 10s per annum.
W. Turton forwarded an v application from John Caithness for an area of about 25 acres on . the south side of section 2. block 111, Kawarau district. — Held over for inspection. L Elizabeth Perriam made an application for an area of 25 acres on the east side of her section 23, block 111, Kawarau dis-trict.—-Held over for inspection. William Perriam m^de an application for an area of about 70 acres on the south side of his section 6. block 111, Kawarau district. — Held over for inspection. F. C. Perriam made an application for an area of about 100 acres on the south side, of section 22, block 111. Kawarau district.—Held over for inspection. Kenneth Munro applied for an area of about 60 acres in block XIII. Tarras district, Morven Hills.— Referred to surveyor for report.

F. W. Ongley, on behalf of Sarah Dodson, applied to purohase 12 acres, part o^ section 18, block 11, Maruwhenua district. — Application declined as land is part of a perfanent reserve; County Council to be asked if there is any objection to the reservation being removed from the area applied for by Mre Dobson. AjcCo W. Lothian applied for a yearly license over section 7, block I, Kaitangata district. — Yearly license granted ; rent £2 per annum.
Memo, from th© Under-secretary for Lande intimating the board's recommenda-
tion that section 45, block I, Greenvale district, Wooded Hill, be subdivided into three allotments and opened for selection had been approved. — Received.
A. Carruthers wrote applying for a renewal of his lease over section 62, block IV, Hilend district. — To be offered a yearly license at £6 par annum. Application to transfer small grazing run 491, Lucy Ann Burns to John Richard Burns, Run No. 224b, Blackstone district, was approved. Ranger O'Neill -reported on the application by Charles Cattanach for a license to occupy a small area at Brighton, block I, Otckia district. — Declined.
