AUCKLAND, August 12. The manager of the Grand Junction reports this afternoon that the face in the north cross-cut at No. 5 level (Martha lode) is still going through country rock - Progress is slow August 16. Driving through the Martha lode in the north crosscut of the Grand x Junction No. 5 level has temporarily been suspended with a view to opening up the dTive so that two rock drills can be worked. Driving operations on the reef, which includes a nice band ot payable ore, wiLl then be commenced east and west, and connection miade with the winze for ventilation purposes. Country rock still maintains in the face of the crosscut.
