ARBITRATION COURT AWARDS.
BREACHES' IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, August 12.
Judgment was given in the Magistrate's Court to-day in the cases brought igain-n Kirkcaldie and Stains, drapers, by tlu Labour Department. - Dr M'Arthur helc* that there had been no breach of award n\ not supplying the firm's restaurant girU with a frse lrnch oil Saturdays when ilia premises were closed for the half -holiday.; In two ca&es the firm was ordered to pay) a penalty of £5 on each information ion employing Mrs Good as head cook at 303 a week, instead of 355, and for dismissing Jier. The court held that her services* were dispensed with because she was entitled to the benefit of the cooks au«l' waiters' award. A penalty of £1 was imposed in a case in which Mrs Good was charged with accepting; a wag© below tho award rate. Judgment was given for Kirkcaldie and Staifl6 in the cases in which the firm was charged with distributing work on the team system.
