MOUNTAIN-CLIMBING
♦ LONDON, August 10. The Duke of Abruzzi climbed to » lieight of 24,600 ft up Mount GodwinAusten, in the Himalayas. The temperature was 15deg below zero. The name Godwin-Austen was given to the peak by the Royal Geographical Society in 1888 in honour of the first explorer of th-j mountains of this region. Its altitude is 28,265 ft, and it is the highest known summit in the world except Mount Everest. -
