THE COMMONWEALTH

MELBOURNE, August 13. The State Governor "(Sir T. Gibson-Ca.r-nrichael) opened the Premiers' Conference.. His speech and those of Mr Wade (New South Wales) and Mr Kidstori (Queensland) dwelt upon the importance of the deliberations, as the whole of Australia was waiting for a settlement of the financial problem. Mr Murray (Victoria) was elected president. After the opening ceremonies, the conference deliberated in private. August 16.
