About two months ago the piincipal underwriters insuring Australian produce requested Mr Coghlan (Agent-General for New South Wales) to make representations to the Australian Governments regarding the unsatisfactory manner of handling frozen meat in Australia. The underwriters estimated that unless the Government forced a system of better handling they would be compelled to discontinue underwriting altogether or raise the rates to such an extent as to make business Impossible. They suggested compulsory inspection at the ship's side, and insulated conveyances between the freezing works and the 6hip, as is done in New Zealand.
