APPRENTICES AND LOST TIME.
(Fbom Oub Own Coerespondent.) AUCKLAND, July 27. A new clause appearing in the Arbitration Court awards provides that a 1 time lost by an apprentice, either by his own default or through sickness, in any year of his apprenticeship, shall be made up before euch apprentice shall be considered afl having entered upon tlia next succeeding yea*r of his apprenticeship. The clause has been inserted at the ins'tanoe of Mr C. Grosvenor, secretary of the Auckland Branch of the Employers Federation, who has been contending for it for some time past. It was first incorporated in the Auckland bookbinders' and lithographers' agreements, which we;e presented for ratification by the Arbitraition Court last week, and the court signified its intention of making the awards accordingly, thus recognising the principle for the first time. T4w same clause was also included in, tie agreement in the tailors' dispnte, which was presented yesterday for conversion into an award.
