SALE OF CLYDESDALE SIRE.
Messrs Wright, Steprenson, xnd Co. report: — We have sold privately at a very •high price, on account of Mr James Patrick (Outran}) the champion Clydesdale sire of New Zealand, Pride of Newton (12280 C.5.8.), to Mr R. D. D. M'Lean, of iMaraekakaho Estate, Hawke's Bay. Pride of Newton is a bay horse, foaled in 1902, and was bred- by Mrs Crawford, Kilchattan, Bute, Scotland. His sire, Pride of Blaeon (30837), was twice first at the Highland show, as a yearling in 1899 and as a three-year-old iii 1901. The Scottish Farmer has described Pride of Blaeon as one of th© best breeding horses in the Clydesdale .world, and he is one of the best known sons of the world-famous Baron's Pride. Pride of Newton's dam was Belle of Kilchattan, bj Prince Frederick (8905), his grand-dam Mirky (4410), by Lord Clyde (482). Pride of Newton is a well-ribbed, anaseive cart horse, with splendid big feet and great quality bone and hair. He is one of the soundest and best Clydesdale sire< that has ever stood in the Dominion, and the success of his progeny in the chow ■ring and the high prices obtained for his stock, both in New Zealand and at the recent Melbourne stallion sales, speak much •for the higih position he occupies as a Bucoessful sire. .
