STRIKE IN SWEDEN

LONDON, August 3. I In consequence of the proclamation of a general strike, the i-ale of alcoholic liquor has bsen prohibited throughout Sweden. The standing army has been mobilised and distributed in the chief strike centres. STOCKHOLM, August 4. The tramway and cab services are suspended in this city, and troops are guarding the gas and electric light works. I August 5. Two hundred and fifty thousand men are out on strike in Sweden. The strikers have excluded from their operations the water supply and lighting service, and are organising special constables to assist in maintaining order. A .oomproiniee is expected, as all trade and the ordinary conveniences of life are stopped.
