ANARCHIST SHOT DEAD

NEW YORK, March 3. Irritated by the efforts of the police to discover tl>e murderer of the priest at Denver (Colorado) who was shot dead at the altaT, an Anarchist gained admittance to the residence of Mr Shippy, chief of the Chicago police, and wounded Shippy's son and a coachman. He then shot at and stabbed Shippy, who finally shot the Anarchist dead. March 4. The assailant of Mr Shippy (chief of the Chicago police) has been identified as Averluck, a native of Kishineff (Russia). One hundred suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack. It is alleged that they are members of a murderous organisation. Last month an Italian anarchist at Denver (Colorado), while kneeling at the altar receiving the eaorament, shot and killed Pere Heinrichs, the officiating priest. He then escaped, but waa captured later and nearly lynched.
