CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

The monthly meeting of the Commitf^. of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, held in the Chamber Hall on the 6tK inst., was attended by Messrs W. GoW (president) D. M'Pherson, A. S. Paterson, - J. W. Henton, G. R. Ritchie, L. Harris*,, and J. M. Gallaway. A letter wa3 received from the Invercar* gill Chamber' with reference to cargtf steamers calling »t the Bluff previous W coming on to Port Chalmers, and a sub* committee, consisting of the chairman^ Messrs Henton and Ritchie, was appointed to consider the matter and report. The Oamartt Chamber wrote intimating) that it was proposed to hold a conferencei of chambers to discuss the size of corneaeksi, whioh, under the new regulations, axe to bef 'limited by the Railway Department tci 2001b. It was resolved to reply that in thei event of a conference being held the Dun« edin Chamber would endeavour to be rej presented. The London Chamber of Commerce wrotdl notifying that two representatives of the{ Proprietary Articies Section of that body! would shortly vfeit the colonies to waroa tiiQ progress of suggested legislation to| amend the " Commerce Trade Description^ Act, 1905."— Received. x i Mr H.
