Notes from Cromwell. (From Our Own Correspondent.) March 6.
CROMWELL, Mining matters are quiet, the rise in the river having affected the returns from the Electrics and others. The Shine No. 1 is on splendid ground, and there is every prospect of the No. 1 g-etting on to imp:oved».ground shortly. This stock is looked upon locally as a great pro- I party. There is very keen competition for water in all parts of the district, and several applications were before the Wa-rdtem's Court yesterday for water rights at the Upper Nevis. Th«re is every appearance of a strong revival in reefing.
