OTEKAIKE CLEARING SALE. (From Our Own Correspondent) OAMARU, March 3.

The clearing Bale it Otek&ike. which ie to extend over three days, commenced to-d»v in showers of rain; There was * large attencfanc* of buyers, who came from as far south 4a Otautau, and as far north as Christchurch. The promise of a 'plentiful supply of autumn and winter feed which, the rain experienced so' generally in the- last few <3ptys has brought has enhanced the value of the ewes and' store lambs and wethers, and it arag estimated' that the rain must have represented not less than £3000 to the vendors. North - Canterbury buyer s, however. were, apparently unwilling to give the prices, offering, and most of the sheep .were taken by North Otago people, who saw in this an opportunity of re-stocking their land after the orolonped drought, and were encouraged to do ,so by the- assurance now offered of plenty of feed. The ewes, which were- offered "to-day, were in. good order considering the season, but, having been yarded for some time, they hardlyi looked their best.
