Wishing to show her solidarity with tAustria, and to prove that the Novi-Bizar railway does not interfere with Macedonian reforms, Germany induced the Sultan to agree to a renewal of his mandates to the officials in Macedonia. Owing, however, -to ambassadorial divergencies ■ttegarding the details of the reforms, the Sultan has rejected these, thus hoping to procrastinate their inauguration. The seek to show that a renewal of tibe mandates would merely prolong the present unsatisfactory situation.
