GERMAN CONVICTS

BERLIN, February 26. In the Reichstag Herr Liebert moved in the direction of the transportation of convicts to colonial penal stations. He said that tuberculosis prevailed amongst prisoners in Germany, and suggested- the necessity of giving them a chance to start a fresh life in the new world.

Herr Demberg said the Government would continue to examine the question, which needed earnest consideration, owing to the financial and national aspects, •but he did not think it expedient to recommend the House to adopt the motion.

Herr Liebert's motion in favour of the transportation of convicts to colonial penal stations was rejected by the Reichstag.
