INVESTIGATION WANTED. DANNEVIEKE, February 28. ! The district meeting of the Forester* was held *£ Dannevirke to-day, and delegates were present from all the lodges in the district. One of the principal motions passed was to the effect that the delegates assembled call upon the Friendly Societies' Council to urge the Go\ernmen< to cause a thorough investigation to ba made into the financial standing of fraternal societies before passing fresh legislation-, such inquiry to embrace an examination oa the rate of payment, cost of management,, and investmeot of funds, the possibility of the orders paying- all their claims, and to> find out the lowest safe minimum rate which ought to be paid for the benefits promised. This evening the visiting dele* gates were entertained at a emoke concert, A very large number was present, the Mayor presiding.
