NORTH ISLAND BRASS BANDS' ASSOCIATION. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 28.

The annual meeting of the North Island Brass Bands' Association was held last night. Mr Maurice Cohen presided. The annual report showed that 55 bands were now affiliated, and that the financial position was eo'iUnd, the association having a cash balance of £157. Mr Cohen commented adversely on the withdrawal of the Kaikorai Band from the present contest as unsportsmanlike. The proposal to hold an annual eisteddfod was held over. It was decided to revise and reprint the rules. Hastings was fixed as the scene of the next contest. It was derided to in future allow different music to second-class bands, and to sectionise the first class A motion to elect three judges instead of one lapsed, there being no seconder.
