REEFTON, February 22.
The manger of the Big River mine reports that openatian-s for the week were confined to No. 9 uprise, which has been sunk" 15ft further, making 75ft from the back. No. 9 level and No. 8 eastern wing have been cleaned out and sunk sft, making a total «f 75ft from the floor of No. 8. The manager expects to make a connection early in the coming week. February 24. Mining is on the up grade. The New Ulster 'Local Company have struck good gold-bearing broken quartz, and subsequently stone 2ft wide was met with. The Golden, Fleece, belonging to the Consolidated Goldfields, partially closed ewra* time ago pending developments, has struck what is reported to be an exceptionally rich block of stone 2ft wide in the No. 2 level.
