PICNIC.
PURAKANUI.
The United District picnic was held on the picnic ground kindly lent by Mr F. Thornton. The feature of the day was the tug-of-war, Married v. Single, which, after a keen contest, was won by the married men. After tea. was over, and a few remarks given by Mr Foote, the gathering dispersed, one and all declaring it to have been the mo6t successful picnic ever held in the district. The following is the result of the events. — Girls' Race (five years and under).— Myra, Wix 1, Mabel Driver 2. Boys' Race (five years and under). — T. Graham 1, F. Grsham 2, A. Ward 3. Girls' Race (six to eight years).— May Driver 1, Mary Graham 2, Bessie Driver 3. Boys' Race (six years to eight years.) — O. Bootiten 1, A. Miller 2, A. Lean 3. Girls' Race (nine to 11 years).— M. Rhodes 1, F. Fullerton 2, B. Cassey 3. Boys' Race (nine years to 11 years). — C. Green 1, J. Wix 2, B. Drake 3. Gills' Potato Race (12 years to 13 years).— S. Miller 1, E. Lean 2, M. Driver 3.. Boys' Potato Race (12 years to 13 years).— L Lean 1, E. King 2, G. Cassey 3. Girls' Race (14»years to 15 years).— G. Boot ten 1, E. Drake 2. Boys' Race (14 years to 15 years). — E. King 1 D- Miller 2, G. Davis 3 Toung LadieV Race. — iliss A. Pickering 1, Miss N. Steel 2.
