BANKS' PENINSULA COCKSFOOT CROP.

TO THE EDITOB. Sir, — I see from a paragraph in your Commercial column of the loth that you state that the figures supplied by me of the Banks' | Peninsula cocksfoot crop were not correct and overestimated. Ido not know who supplied you with this information. It is, however, a. pity you did not refer this matter to me for verification, my figures are correct as given you. Your information is from a tainted •ource. in order to raise the market value of the seed not sold to the Kortu Island. To show you that my figures are substantially correct, although compiled before thrashing was finished. I may say that 78 actual returns of the cocksfoot crop have come to hand, or rather passed through my hands, and the figures show as follow — Actual quantity harvested .. 13,622 sacks My estimate 13,011 sacks Under estimation .. .. 611 sacks You may take it for granted that the other portion is on a par with the above. Unless (tatistics such as mine are supplied my figures must -stand. Guesswork and heresay will not do. Kindly insert this reply. A HoaiTzsois-. Akaroa, 17th February. SALE AT "SPRINGFIELD.
