GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORTS.
Messrs Dalgety and Co. report as follows — We held our usual weekly sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday, when we submitted a medium sized catalcgue. Buyers were in fan attendance, and a clearance of the offerings was effected at auction and! privately at piices corresponding with quotation 0 Oats — There have b^en fairly heavy offerings from both north and south duiing the past week, and a, number of lines have chanyd hands at piices ranging from 2s Id) to 2s lid on trucks, handy stations. We quote . Prime milling. '2s 3^d ; good to best feed, 2a •2Ad io 2s 3d ; inferior to meduim, 2s to 2s 2<J per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.— The further fall in the London' market has been quickly reflected here with) the- lesult that buyers are inclined to stand) off in the meantime. To-day's value 3 are as under Prime milling. 4s 4d to 4s sd ; medium to good milling, 43 Id to 4s 3d, per bushel («acks extra) Potatoes.- -There is good inquiry for gooq
table sorts. We quote: Best Up-to-dates, 6e 6d to 5s 9d; medium. 5s to 53 3d, pei cwt (sacks in). Chaff. — The market is poorly supplied with both old and new chaff, and \ alues show Blight improvement in consequence. We quote: Prime old oaten sheaf, £i to £4 ss; (medium to good, £3 10s to £3 17s 6rl ; best View, £3 7s 6d to £3 10s; medium to good, *3 to £S 5s per ton (bags extra) Straw. — "We quote: Oaten sheaf 45s to 47s 6d; wheaten 42s 6d per ton pressed. Messrs Donald Reid and Co repoit —We "held our weekly auction sale of gram and produce at our stores on Monday. There •was a good attendance of local buyers, and ,the bidding was well up to valuations. The catalogue, with a few exceptions, was clearea >nt satisfactory prices. Values ruled as — There has been good demand for all 11c...., threshed oats offering for immediate delivery, and all such lines coming forward have found ready sale nt prices fully equal to late quotations. For forward and particularly for extended delivery buyers are not disposed to offer the same prioes, as they anticipate buying on better terms when threshing is more general. We quote Prime milling, 2s 3Jd; good to best feed, 2= 2\A to 2» 3d; inferior to medium. 2s to 2s '2d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.— Reports from London and other markets, combined with the probability of Australian wbea-t or flour being landed in the. Dominion, has had a marked effect on local values. Lines winch were readily saleable at 4s 4d on trucks at country stations are difficult to get offers for. and millers are confining their attention to choice lot 1 ? which th«y are buying sparingly. Fowl wheat is selling a.t prices rather in advance of milling lines and is offering in moderate qualities. "We quote: Prime milling, 4s 4d to 4s sd; medium to good, 4s Id to 4s 3d; broken and damaged. 3s 9d to 4s ; seconds and inferior, Bs 3d to 3s 6d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes.— The market is moderately supplied, and at to-day's sale all freshly dug lots met good competition. We quote Best lots, £5 10s to £0 15s; choice, to i' 6; medium to good. £5 to £5 5s per ton (bags included!. Chaff.— Supplies have slackened and in consequence all bright well cut oaten sheaf coming forward has ready sale at improved prices. Prime oaten sheaf has good inquiry, but inferior, dusty, and discoloured lots are difficult to place." We quote: Prime oaten sheaf, \ £4 to £i os; medium, £3 10s to £3 15s; inferior. £2 15s to £3 ss; prime new chaff, £3 j *7s 6d to £3 105 ; medium to gocd, £3 to [ £Z ss ; light and inferior, £2 10s to £2 15s per ton (bags extra).
