THE TAHUNA PARK MEETING.
The Tahuna Park Trotting Club commenced their autumn meeting under favourable, circumstances, end the attendance constituted one of the best ever seen at the track. 'In fact, it be dawned with a considerable chance 'of justifieatioa that it was a record. Tfc^ totalisator returns showed «n increase <>f £419 Ms over those of the coTr,esconding <?«y of last year s meeting, when £3787 was Itt addition, six bookmakers paid ■& IS-guinea. fee for the paddock, and four paid 10 guineas for, the privilege of betting in the outside enclosure, and the fielders' fees, in addition to the totalis«,tor returns, mean substantial assistance towards fiumg the club's coffers. The track was in fairly good order, and was watered between 1»e run-, ning of the different Taces. Some interesting sport was witnessed, and excitement waxed fairly high when the Sigh-cl»ai Handicap was Iseing run. *But«st began badly, but once he struck bis gak he set out after the leaders in great style. He ran into third place when about six furlongs from home, and, waiting :n: n behind until the last quarter, drew out from l-o«>a-nut and won a good race in 4mm 47 3-gsec. , Had the Vancleve gelding began well and the opposition proved a bit stronger, »6 is safe to say that he would have ha<i no difficulty in stepping out » track record. An impression got abroad that *mm 47 3-ssec was the best go ever accomplished over two miles at the Park, but Sir Hector stepped inside of 4min *7seo when he won the James Memorial Handicap. The meeting will be concluded on Wednesday, and as the "rwtanoww^T fair some good sport should be witnessed.
