LONDON, February 19

Tlie Daily Chronicle states that owing to Mr Moberley Bell's opposition Mr C. A. Peaison has withdrawn the arrangements made with The Times, but is still negotiating. The original proposal oon-> templated the formation of a company with a capital of £860,000, owning and! controlling The Times, Standard, and St. James's Gazette.

The Daily Express states that Mr Pearson will be manager of the company a*, a salary of £10,000 a year for 20 years. Mr Arthur Walter will be chairman of directors at a salary of £1000 a' J'ear. The Daily Graphic states that Mr Moberley Bell, on behalf of an American syndicate, including Mr Hcoper Jackson, of The Times' Book Club, will outbid Mr Pearson.
