SYDNEY ELECTRICAL PLANT.

SYDNEY, February 19. The expert appointed to inquire into the condition of the City Council's electric power plant reports that the engines are not in a fit or safe state to be in operation at the present time, as the staff is not competent to effect the necessary repairs. He recommends that the work be done by the contractors who erected the plant.

The council appointed Mr H. R. F. MacKay, of England, to the position of electrical engineer.
